Fun Game

Here's a Corbulid ( I think ) appearing in benthic samples in the IRL in Florida. It's just over 3mm in length. It may be a juvenile, but I've never seen an adult, unless the adult is dramatically different in appearance.

Anyone have an idea?

Cool Marine Tubificid

Whole worm, notice change in cuticle over what I
assume is the clitellum.

Anterior end of same worm.

Prostomium, which is evidently retracted. Also,
notice condition of the anterior setae.

Posterior region; this image shows condition of the posterior
setae, but not that well. One of the teeth (upper?)
seems to be reduced more in the posterior setae than
in the anterior setae.

who am I??

This is a small crab that is 'common' in our benthic grabs.

This image is poor, but its the only dorsal view...this one is a female with a clutch of eggs.

the following are some "whole worm" shots-
this first one is the anterior end of a specimen - chunks are missing where I have dissected out segments to mount uncini on slides for light microscope. The next one is the anterior end of one that has lost its crown, and the others I believe are self-explanatory.

unidentified sabellid

here's some shots of the abdominal unicni:

Here's some amateur shots of the thoracic uncini:

Identifying Nereididae

Key to the genera of Nereididae

The link above is to an online genera key on the website of the Natural History Museum in London. Our text keys fail to provide a good drawing of the various pharyx armaments found in Nereididae, So I pasted this one from the aforementioned website for easy reference. Click on it to view it with a white background.

a) Cones; b) Smooth Bars; c) Pectinate Bars;

d) Rods; e) Papillae (on Oral Ring).
